In a joint meeting attended by the directors of the 13 Aban and 29 Farvardin pharmacies and the CEO of the Medical Procurement Organization, avenues for cooperation in the distribution of single-prescription medications, settlement of insurance claims, and mutual utilization of pharmacy capacities were thoroughly explored.
According
to the Public Relations and International Affairs Unit of the Medical
Procurement Organization, the meeting was held on 5 October 2025, with the
participation of Dr. Biglar, Head of the 13 Aban Pharmacy, and his delegation;
Dr. Chalaki, Head of the 29 Farvardin Pharmacy, and his delegation; along with
senior executives of the Organization. During the session, Dr. Mohammadreza
Shanehsaz, Managing Director of the Organization, underscored the strategic
importance of synergy among pharmacies and emphasized its role in enhancing the
quality of pharmaceutical services.
The
discussions focused on integrating the 13 Aban and 29 Farvardin pharmacies into
the distribution cycle of single-prescription medications. Participants also
proposed mechanisms to streamline the process of collecting receivables from
insurance companies and improve coordination with pharmaceutical distribution
firms, aiming to ensure greater operational coherence.
A
key point of consensus was the reciprocal utilization of pharmacy resources and
the establishment of joint frameworks to facilitate patient services. In this
regard, it was agreed that the Medical Procurement Organization would serve as
a facilitator for periodic meetings and that a specialized working group
comprising representatives from both pharmacies would be formed. Depending on
the thematic focus of each session, experts from relevant institutions may also
be invited to contribute to decision-making processes.
In
the closing remarks, Dr. Shanehsaz highlighted the necessity of “pharmacy
alignment for strategic purchasing,” describing it as a vital approach to
boosting efficiency, reducing costs, and improving patient access to
specialized medications.
Held
in a spirit of mutual understanding and constructive engagement, the meeting
marked a significant step toward strengthening inter-organizational
collaboration and advancing the quality of pharmaceutical services nationwide.
