As part of the implementation of a joint memorandum of understanding between the Food and Drug Administration and the Medical Procurement Organization, a specialized meeting was held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, chaired by Dr. Mohammadreza Shanehsaz, Managing Director of the Medical Procurement Organization, in the organization’s conference hall.
According to the Public Relations and
International Affairs Unit of the Medical Procurement Organization, the
session—attended by senior headquarters officials—focused on reviewing the
implementation process of a public call for proposals aimed at securing part of
the country’s strategic reserves of medical equipment and supplies. This call
was developed and executed in coordination with the Directorate General for
Medical Supplies Supervision at the Food and Drug Administration, within the
framework of the joint agreement between the two organizations.
Following several technical meetings and the
opening of submitted bids, the selected companies were identified. In the
latest session, based on evaluations and the issuance of procurement
authorizations by the Directorate General, it was decided that the operational
procurement of medical equipment by the selected vendors would commence in full
coordination with the Food and Drug Administration.
Dr. Shanehsaz emphasized the importance of
timely provision of essential medical equipment for the country and called for
the acceleration of procurement processes while ensuring full compliance with
legal regulations and technical standards. It was also agreed that necessary
follow-ups for the precise implementation of resolutions and oversight of the
procurement stages would be prioritized.
