Hemodialysis Centers Expansion Meeting Held Under Red Crescent Medical Procurement Leadership
A national meeting on the expansion of hemodialysis centers across the country was convened on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 (30 Dey 1404), under the leadership of the Medical Procurement Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent Society. The session, held both in-person and online, brought together senior officials of the Iranian Red Crescent Society and provincial branch directors to address the growing needs of patients with kidney disease.

According to the Public Relations and International Affairs Unit of the Medical Procurement Organization, the meeting focused on the design, implementation, and operationalization of hemodialysis centers nationwide. The initiative is being carried out through collaboration between the Medical Procurement Organization and Helal Iran Medical Devices Company, with coordination and cooperation from provincial Red Crescent branches. The session was held at the headquarters of the Iranian Red Crescent Society.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Meysam Afshar, Secretary-General of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, and attended in person by Dr. Dehqan, Deputy for Health, Treatment, and Rehabilitation; the Managing Director of the Medical Procurement Organization; Dr. Shanehsaz; managing directors of Helal Iran Medical Devices Company and Soha Kish Commercial Company; and several senior headquarters officials. Provincial Red Crescent branch directors participated remotely.

At the outset of the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Iranian Red Crescent Society extended greetings on the occasion of the holy month of Sha'ban and described the objective of the gathering as establishing "shared understanding, perception, and language" in advancing hemodialysis centers nationwide. He emphasized that expanding these centers responds to a growing national health need, which—beyond enhancing service delivery to patients—will generate sustainable financial resources and bolster the Society's institutional credibility.

Subsequently, Dr. Shanehsaz, Managing Director of the Medical procurement Organization, extended congratulations on the advent of the sacred month of Sha'ban and expressed appreciation for the continuous support and follow-up of Dr. Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, and the Secretary-General in the health domain. He stated: "The overarching policy of the Medical procurement Organization centers on developing governmental operational affairs—such as expanding hemodialysis centers and plasma collection—through leveraging the capacities of affiliated companies and the nationwide network of pharmacies under our coverage, all of which are currently being implemented and operationalized."

He identified the expansion of hemodialysis centers across provinces as a fundamental requirement in the health sector and stressed: "This plan has been designed with a phased approach to ensure active participation of provincial Red Crescent branches in its execution—an initiative that, beyond elevating the national brand of the Red Crescent Society, will foster effective synergy among the Medical procurement Organization, its affiliated companies, and provincial branches, ultimately enhancing kidney patients' access to high-quality services."

Dr. Sobhani, Managing Director of Helal Iran Medical Devices Company and project executor, then presented a report on completed actions. Referring to the successful experience of currently operating hemodialysis centers in the country, he stated: "This project represents a convergence of social responsibility and sustainable economic approach, and its implementation constitutes a national and organizational mission." He described the expansion of hemodialysis centers as a fundamental step toward advancing public health and alleviating patients' concerns, fully aligned with the Iranian Red Crescent Society's core humanitarian mandate.

Dr. Dehqan, Deputy for Health, Treatment, and Rehabilitation, subsequently emphasized the national character of the initiative, stating: "Full implementation of this project is a national duty, and the Deputy Office for Health, Treatment, and Rehabilitation will stand alongside its executors until all objectives are realized." He added: "Delivery of hemodialysis services under the Red Crescent brand plays a vital role in enhancing the Society's national credibility and public trust in health services."

At the conclusion of the session, provincial Red Crescent branch directors participated remotely, posing questions and sharing perspectives, to which comprehensive responses were provided.
