Coinciding with the passage of one year since the launch of the online electronic prescription registration system at the Central Pharmacy of the Red Crescent, statistics indicate a significant increase in patient uptake and a 289% growth in visits during the first seven months of the current year compared to the system's performance from late September 2025 through late March 2026.
According to a report by the Public Relations
and International Affairs Unit of the Medical Procurement Organization, the
24-hour Central Pharmacy of the Red Crescent, affiliated with this
organization, in line with its macro policies aimed at honoring patients and
eliminating time-consuming in-person processes, operationalized the new
"Online Electronic Prescription Registration" system one year ago.
This smart platform, particularly for patients with a continuous need for rare
and specialized medications, has played a key role in time management, reducing
waiting-related stress, and eliminating unnecessary travel.
Significant Growth in Patient Uptake
An examination of the system's performance
statistics shows that during the initial period of activity in 2025 (Mehr
through the end of Esfand, corresponding roughly to late September 2025 through
late March 2026), a total of 2,245 individuals placed orders through this
platform; meanwhile, in the first seven months of 2026 alone, this figure rose
to 8,737 individuals, indicating a 289% growth in online visits. This uptake
demonstrates patients' trust in digital platforms and the organization's
success in facilitating access to pharmaceutical services.
Intelligence: The Main Feature of the Red
Crescent System
One of the strengths of the aforementioned
system is "smart notification" to the patient during the submission
of a request. By identifying potential obstacles—such as the patient's file
being inactive, submitting a request before the due date, the need for approval
from the Food and Drug Administration's service desk for special medications,
or disruptions in basic insurance systems—the system informs the patient before
any waste of time by sending guiding messages.
Improved Access through SEO Enhancement
Alongside the development of technical
infrastructure, the organization's information technology experts, with special
diligence and by optimizing search engines (SEO) for the online pharmacy
system, have created conditions whereby patients and clients can easily be
directed to the main portal and the "Electronic Prescription Order
Registration" page through their very first internet search. This measure
has been an important step toward facilitating user access to the
organization's services and reducing patient confusion in cyberspace.
Facilitation of the Service Delivery Process
Using this digital platform at the address
https://daru.mpo-helal.org, patients can complete the following steps without
physically present in the pharmacy's long queues:
1. Entering
the system and selecting the "Electronic Prescription Order
Registration" option
2. Accurately
completing patient information and prescription details
3. Automatically
receiving an electronic appointment
4. Immediate
review of the prescription by pharmacy experts and notification of the result
(approval or need for correction) within a maximum of one hour
5. Issuance
of a preliminary invoice and online payment by the patient
6. Commencement
of medication preparation and real-time notification to the patient to make the
final visit and receive the medication
The Medical Procurement Organization has
consistently emphasized reducing crowding in the pharmacies under its coverage
and increasing patient satisfaction. With the development of this system, the
patient visits the pharmacy for medication delivery only after the preparation
stages are finalized and approval is received, which will play an effective
role in reducing in-person visit traffic and promoting the level of public
health in society.
