On Tuesday, 29 April 2024, Dr. Alireza Askari, MPO’s Managing Director, participated in a health panel at the Iran-Africa Summit, highlighting Iran's medical and pharmaceutical capabilities and stressing commercial collaborations with Africa and the potential for expanding bilateral trade relations.
According to the report
issued by Public Relations and International Affairs of the Medical Procurement
Organization, the panel discussed various topics including investment and
exports conditions, hospital equipment, reliance on domestic capabilities, health
tourism, the necessity of training, and bilateral cooperation, as well as
sending medical teams to African countries for medical consultation.
Dr. Askari, while
elaborating on the activities of subsidiary companies and the capabilities of
Iranian companies, stated: "This panel marks the beginning of developing
bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in the healthcare sector
between Iran and Africa."
The Head of Export Department
at the Ministry of Health stated: "African countries do not have a
significant share of Iranian pharmaceutical products, and this area needs to be
strengthened."
Furthermore, in this
specialized session, a question and answer session was held with the
participation of managers from the Blood Transfusion Organization, Pasteur
Institute, and the Ministry of Health of Iran.
